Cierre by Matoof Khan
Genre: Fiction
ABOUT THE BOOK:
A debut novel by Matoof Khan, but doesn't seem like a debut because of the way it's written. I'm sure readers are bound to break out of the monotonous fonts of other books, because 'Cierre' uses Courier font throughout the book. The book is divided into two parts - first part is fast paced and leaves a lot of questions in reader's mind, and after a time lapse, second part starts which is much elaborate and less confusing.
PLOT IN SHORT:
Honestly, the plot is not very attractive but the lessons that you can pick up are efficacious. The protagonist, Aryan Ahmed who's en route for graduation, aspires to become a writer, but his over-indulgence in alcohol and drugs makes things worse. He feels relieved by substance abuse but fails to understand the disadvantages and after-effects. The plot also revolves around few girls who came in his life, amongst them- one made him a drinker, one made him sober, the other one made him a drinker, just like a "vicious cycle" of goofing up and getting better.
WHAT I LIKED ( reasons to buy ):
- I liked the font, and it kept me hooked till the end.
- I liked the strong dialogues at appropriate places, carved by the debutante author.
- The book has lesson for people who don't have the courage to follow their own aspirations.
- It tells how badly substance abuse ruins good moments.
- Apart from the two parts, each part is further divided into sub-parts that keeps curiosity at peek.
- The way the book is filled with alcohol and drugs (Psst! Only if you don't like alcohol and drugs, else, you enjoy...)
- I was eagerly waiting for a climax but couldn't find one and whatever others would call a climax was quite predictable.
I have been sent this book by Pepperscript Publishers ( real publisher of the book ) for an honest and unbiased review which I already shared above. And I assume that you have noticed that reasons you should buy the book overweighs the reasons why not, so why wait, give it a try!
With regards,
Shreyosi.
